Giving from Hong Kong
If you are a Hong Kong taxpayer, there is a new
opportunity to make a charitable gift to Penn: The
University of Pennsylvania (HK) Foundation Ltd.
Recently established by the University, this Foundation enables
you to easily make a tax-beneficial gift to Penn. The Foundation is recognized
as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization by the United States Internal Revenue
Service and as a tax-exempt charity under Section 88 of the Inland Revenue
Ordinance (Cap. 112) by the Hong Kong Inland Revenue Department. This structure
enables Hong Kong taxpayers to make charitable gifts to the University,
obtaining Hong Kong tax relief, and typically will enable those paying both
Hong Kong and U.S. taxes to also claim relief in both countries. All gifts received by the Foundation will be offered a dual receipt for Hong Kong and U.S. tax purposes. We encourage you to contact your advisor prior to the end of the Hong Kong tax year, March 31, to determine if you can benefit from using the Foundation.
Gifts can be made in Hong Kong or U.S. dollars or equivalents (checks, bank drafts, etc.) and should be payable to the University of Pennsylvania (HK) Foundation, Ltd. Payments should be sent to the following address: University of Pennsylvania (HK) Foundation, Ltd. c/o Dr. Eric Fok, Secretary-Treasurer Room 8, 7/F Wah International Centre 191 Java Road, North Point HONG KONG
